Step back in time to 1919 as the Old Courthouse Square is transformed into village with merchants, cowboys, miners, carpetbaggers and pioneers. The Inverness Founders Day event features a curated exhibit at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum and video recollections at the Valerie Theatre with long-time residents sharing their memories of a bygone era. The Courthouse Square will buzz with old-timey merchants, period entertainment and costumed characters. The opening ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. Following the opening, is the reenactment of “the Night the Court House was Stolen” by the Citrus County Historical Society.

The Valerie Theatre will transform into a jazz-era dance hall with live music by the Jazz Daddy Os. Party like its 1919 in your 1920s cocktail attire. Free and open to the public. This grand event is set for the actual date of the City’s 100-year anniversary.
